5 Morning Habits That Will Help You Seize The Day

1. Start your day with a positive, uplifting message.
What’s the first thing you do in the morning? For me, it’s usually rolling over, groggy-eyed, rolling over and checking my phone. Oh, you too? As much as we try to convince ourselves that that’s not the case, we all know good and well that thanks to technology, this is becoming the case for pretty much everyone. So if you’re reaching over to check your instagram, put your alarm on snooze, text messages or emails, why not try this as well?

Put a positive photo or message on your phone background or on your alarm to make sure that you see it and start your day in a positive way. Team up with a bestie and commit to sending each other a positive, uplifting text every morning.


2. Look your best, feel your best.
When I’m rushed in the morning and running out without feeling like I look my best, I usually don’t feel my best. Confidence comes within, but sometimes it starts with your appearance. Spending a quick ten minutes to apply some quick makeup, and putting together a nice outfit helps me feel my best, and ready to take on the day. A full face of makeup is often unnecessary. Try a few, quick, moisturizing products with SPF to protect, hydrate your skin and give you a glow. Throw on a few coats of mascara and a quick bold lip color for an easy to way to look polished. 3. Get moving.
Stretching your arms, legs, back, shoulders and other parts of your body – even for 5 minutes – improves blood circulation and helps you to ward off nasty aches and pains during the day.

If you can go full on exercise mode and work out for 30 minutes, please do so. Exercising in the morning increases your productivity and kicks up your endorphins, making you feel more awake and ready to tackle your day. Working out can increase your mental clarity for four to 10 hours post-exercise.


4. Eat breakfast. Just. Please. Eat. Breakfast.
Jump start your day with a healthy and satisfying breakfast in the morning. Supercharge your energy, get those mind juices flowing, and remember – no one likes you when you’re hangry. If you find yourself constantly rushing in the morning, stack up on fresh fruit that’s easy to carry (apples, peaches, pears, etc.) and granola bars. Grab and go.

If you’ve got a few minutes, blend up a green smoothie and drink it on the way to work. I love to put kale, spinach, high-fiber granola, plain non-fat greek yogurt, frozen strawberries and some almond milk together for a delicious, healthy and high-protein way to start my day.


5. Spice up your shower routine.

Showers don’t have to be a drag – they’re the main event that I look most forward to every day. I love the process of feeling clean, relaxed and rejuvenated, but I also love the opportunity to be silly, dance since no one’s watching, have a little fun and sing in the shower to my favorite songs. But the best part about showering in the morning?

You get to smell damn good all day.

Hi Jinna! Great tips! The one that I would like to add is reading to my husband. I’ve been doing this for years,recording myself reading books, magazine articles, and so on, for him to listen to as he drives truck. I love it it. I get really into the readings, using different tones of voice, getting really animated depending on what type of piece I’m reading. It’s a blast and gets my morning off to good start. I must admit, I am one of those who skip breakfast for “not having enough time,” although I have all the time in the world. Seeing as though I struggle with getting up in the morning, these tips do seem quite easily achieved and not at all boring (I especially like the uplifting messages).

I usually read before i go to bed so sometimes when I wake up, it’s nice to start my day with a chapter. I’m a teacher who has decided to not do any classes this summer so I’ve been spending a lot of quality time with my family. I’ve enjoyed sitting down for a nice breakfast with my 2 sons and then doing my devotional once they’re done eating.

I’ve not had the motivation to jump straight up with the dull work I’ve been doing recently. Checking facebook can be really dampening in a day and a lot of people’s messages seem to involve some sorta body part which is annoying so I’ve uninstalled messenger. Even through I still read my messages, I do so when I want which feels a lot better.

I agree that taking some time to put makeup on and do hair nicely can completely change how you feel for the rest of the day. Also that body wash sounds AMAZING! It just reminded me of a fundraising drive we did back when I was in high school and I got an amazing smelling cucumber body wash. I had forgotten how great it was. Basically, I need that method body wash in my life!!

I think she means people with bad acne need more than that… not to do nothing. I’d argue that you just need to use concealer and maybe a translucent powder on top, which doesn’t require that much extra time.

Yes, I meant that for a face with a bad acne is not enough just a moisturizing cream with SPF and mascara… Not even BB cream on blemished areas.

I totally agree with part about exercise, breakfast, clothing and make up! When I’m going to faculty I always try to choose clothing the evening before, and I always have breakfast at home. And when I get to drink coffee as well it is great! My friends at faculty always ask me how can I be in a good mood and smiling every day :’D

I think I do most of these things. For a positive message, I try to read a devotional every morning. I run, or do some type of physical activity, which requires me to shower, lol. And I usually eat breakfast.

Usually I will start the morning with a good stretch and a cold bath to make myself awake first before checking the emails on my phone. It is actually much better that you get a “short summary” of what your day is going to start at the office and things / tasks that you need to complete first hand once you arrive in office. Always, skipped my breakfast but not the coffee…

This is a pretty positive post and I agree with all except the eating breakfast part. Studies are mixed as far as the importance of breakfast in the morning…also depends on the person as obviously everyone is different.

As a makeup in summer I use La Roche Possay Effaclar duo plus cream as a day cream. After that I put tinted BB cream to whole face (personally I found Pupa BB cream to work for my skin and it doesn’t cause me to break out).
