This is one of the most luxurious villas in Bali, and I can’t believe I actually got to stay here.

This is Villa Sound of the Sea – a sprawling 5-master bedroom oceanfront villa spread across two bungalows in the Canggu area of Bali.

It’s blessed with a 20-meter infinity pool that overlooks the ocean.

Where you can sunbathe in stillness.

Or cool off with a dip in the pool.

There were more than enough places to sit, soak or relax.

Like this sweet little spot – a floating bale in the middle of a pond.

Or the massive open-air living room.

I walked along this pleasant path to drop into one of the master suites.

And as soon as you enter, you come across this library – the perfect place for my afternoon nap, or a little reading.

This was the immaculate bedroom area, with a window peeking into the incredible master bathroom.

Welcome drinks and fruit were waiting for us upon arrival.  I think I drank one of these every single day during my stay.

The master bathroom was bright, mirrored, and fantastically spacious.

You can lay in bed and find this outdoor terrace in full view.

Step outside and soak up during an outdoor bath on the terrace.

Or be really, really productive on the other side.

But the food may have been the best part. Dinner was served every night in this beautiful bale by the infinity pool.

Bali | Travel | @projectinspo

It was one of the most romantic places I’ve ever eaten.  And the best part?  It was quiet.  The only thing you could hear is the ocean.

Bali | Travel | @projectinspo

The amazing staff, upon request, will go out every single day to purchase fresh groceries and prepare every meal for you. And I couldn’t stop eating.

One of my favorite dishes was the prawn and pomelo salad.

And then I woke up to breakfast.  Jaw.  Drop.

Bali | Travel | @projectinspo

Smoked salmon benedict, fresh fruit, mouth-watering spreads and jams spread onto freshly baked breads.  Oh, and I won’t forget the phenomenal coffee + freshly squeezed juices.

I woke up every morning to watch the very few surfers out in the ocean.

And ended every evening with sunsets like this.

With nothing else but peace, happiness, and the sound of the sea.

This place was absolutely phenomenal and exceeded every single expectation.   These were my highlights:

THE LOCATION

The villa is nestled in an area of Canggu that is one of the most peaceful and quiet locations, but close enough and accessible by scooter (the concierge will set everything up for you and have them delivered) to everything and anything you need.  Tanah Lot is about a 10-15 minute ride, and the bustling surf town near Old Man’s and Echo Beach are about a 5 minute ride away.  The ride to the villa is open and authentically gorgeous, surrounded by rice fields and absolutely free from distraction or noise.

THE STAFF

I have never felt so taken care of while at a place – the villa staff is unobtrusive and discreet, but extremely friendly and helpful.  They anticipate your needs before you even begin to need them – they remember your names, and personalize every aspect of your experience here.  Everyone is genuinely happy to be there and it shines through.

THE FOOD

Oh. My. God. The breakfast spreads, the dinners that were hand-prepared by the head chef – were mouthwatering and responsible for my gaining three pounds in a week. They’ve got a menu filled with mostly Asian dishes (Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese), but also offer Western-inspired cuisine.  The staff asks you what you’d like in the morning, and goes out to the market every single day to pick up fresh food, produce and ingredients for your meals.  You pay local prices and a 15% surcharge for the preparation/staff and that’s it.  You’ve got restaurant-quality cuisine with local cost and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

THE AMBIANCE

If you are looking for a honeymoon destination, an intimate and quiet retreat with your closest friends, or a paradise to be pampered and escape to – this is your place.  I practically needed to be dragged out of there after a week, and I am still planning when I will be going back.  There are no distractions here – no one else bothering you – you are sitting, soaking and relaxing in stillness, surrounded by the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing onto the beach.  Let’s just say I know now why it’s called Villa Sound of the Sea, and why it is quite possibly the most luxurious villa in Bali.
