We’ve all heard our share of things about Bangkok – and I had landed around midnight with about as many predisposed notions as I had weight in luggage. What I had NOT expected, however – was to get a taste of Bangkok like this.
This is the Hotel Muse in Bangkok – a 5-star hotel nestled between the skyscrapers of the financial district – it’s comfortably glamorous and refreshingly cool.
Imagine walking through a pair of milky glass doors and feeling like you’ve just been transported to the set of The Great Gatsby. I’m now expecting Leonardo Dicaprio to hand me a glass of champagne and whisk me off to reception.
Sadly, no Leo – but what I got was a warm welcome from a lovely woman in a long-sleeved ruffled blouse, complete with a mini cocktail, into a romantically decked-out lobby reminiscent of the Roaring 20’s.
I was escorted to my room to find decor mixed of classic + modern furnishings — refined with a taste of luxury and bold colors.
The bathroom was one of a kind, and the tub one that I could easily nap in. But I wouldn’t miss up on the opportunity to spend a few more hours in that big, beautiful bed.
Head downstairs to a super-cool lounge to taste one (or a few) of their many craft cocktails.
Or head up to the rooftop bar to soak in phenomenal views of Bangkok below.
The cocktail list is extensive, the views are stunning, and the mood is set.
What sealed the deal on this night, however, was the sheer existence of the hotel’s speakeasy bar, another rooftop lounge with an entrance hidden behind a sliding door in the wall.
Now it’s only right to expect world-class food at a 5-star hotel, but to find award-winning Italian food in Bangkok? I was surprised too.
I walked down the spiral staircase and descended into Medici Kitchen & Bar, a delectably dimly-lit restaurant decked out in neo-industrial decor. It took me a few minutes to soak in the scene before being seated.
The restaurant has a robust menu and a killer wine list. So I decided to try the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing – and what came next was beyond my expectations.
Watch this video I made of the entire dining experience (live opera performances included) below.
So this is all just a sweet taste of what to expect from the coolest 5-star hotel in Bangkok – so make sure you expect (and get) nothing less.
